چکیده

2′-fucosyllactose (2′-FL) has been linked positively with piglet gut health. Genetically engineered Saccharomyces cerevisiae strains producing 2′-FL can be used in the dry grind process to enrich Distiller’s dried grains solubles (DDGS) and supplement swine diets 2′-FL. The objectives of our study were modify ethanol for enriched DDGS production evaluate techno-economic feasibility process. Concentrations 19.8 g 2′-FL/kg achieved using strain without negatively affecting yield. Process models conventional modified processes (1150 MT corn/day capacity) developed SuperPro Designer. Capital costs higher than internal rate return was $300/MT selling price.

Composition of corn and distillers dried grains with solubles from dry grind ethanol processing.

Increase in the demand for ethanol has resulted in growth in the dry grind (DG) ethanol industry. In DG processing, the whole corn kernel is fermented, resulting in two main coproducts, ethanol and distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS). Marketing of DDGS is critical to the economic stability of DG plants. The composition of DDGS can vary considerably; this reduces market value. Factors t...

Characterization of Feed Streams and Emissions from Biomass Gasification/Combustion at Fuel Ethanol Plants

Fuel and emission characteristics of co-products of the ethanol dry-grind process [distillers wet grains (DWG), concentrated distillers solubles (referred to as “syrup”), and distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS)], and corn stover are evaluated. Biomass co-products from the dry-grind ethanol production process, particularly DDGS, are good sources for the electrical and thermal energy nee...

A New Process For Removing Fiber From Distillers Dried Grains With Solubles

A new process was developed to separate fiber from distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) in a dry grind corn process. Separation of fiber from DDGS would provide two valuable coproducts: 1) DDGS with reduced fiber, increased fat and increased protein contents and 2) fiber. The process, called Elusieve process, used two separation methods, sieving and elutriation, to separate the fiber. M...

Dried distillers grains with solubles in laying hen diets.

A study was conducted to test the inclusion rate of corn dried distillers grains with solubles (DDGS) in laying hen diets on egg production (EP) responses for a full production cycle. A total of 288 Bovan Single Comb White Leghorn laying hens were fed diets containing 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, or 25% DDGS from 24 to 46 wk (phase 1) and 47 to 76 wk (phase 2) of age. The diets were formulated to be isoca...

Biorefinery strategies for upgrading Distillers’ Dried Grains with Solubles (DDGS)

20 21 Distillers’ Dried Grains with Solubles (DDGS) is the major by-product of bioethanol and distillery 22 plants. Due to its high content of proteins, water-soluble vitamins and minerals, DDGS has been 23 long marketed as animal feed for livestock. EU legislation on liquid biofuels could raise the 24 demand on bioethanol production in Europe, with a resulting increase in DDGS availability. 25...
